A Goldie rescue team from the Calgary Humane Society is on the way to rescue a dog who is stuck in a sinkholes in Calgary.
It’s not yet clear when the dog will be released.
“It’s a great opportunity to have someone from the rescue team come in, to be able to help them,” said Amber Thompson.
“We’re hoping for some kind of a miracle and a quick release, so hopefully, if we’re lucky, we can get this dog out.”
Thompson said they have been out there since January, helping to remove debris from the sinkholes.
The dogs were found by the Calgary Fire Department on March 4.
Fire crews then removed the dog from the hole and the team has been on the ground since.
“They’re not doing anything that they’re not trained to do.
They’re not using any equipment,” said Thompson.
“They’re doing everything that is possible to rescue people.”
Thompson is hoping to get the dog out of the sinkhole before the end of the week, so she can move her family back into the house.
“I know that the community is in awe of our work, and it’s great to have this opportunity to help with something that’s really important to our community,” she said.
