Golden State is taking the first step towards moving the NBA’s most storied franchise to the Bay Area.
The Warriors’ move from Oakland to San Francisco is expected to begin next month.
That means the Warriors will be back in the Bay for their first trip to the Emerald City since a 6-1 season in 2014.
The Golden State franchise has been in Seattle since 1985.
It was in Seattle for the last time on Feb. 27, 2021, when the Warriors played their first game in the city.
The Warriors played two more games in the United Center in San Francisco that season, one in January and another in February.
Golden State will play at the Oracle Arena on April 17.
It will be the Warriors’ second visit to the city since the franchise relocated to Seattle in 2010.
It is the only team in NBA history to play in both cities.
The team was eliminated in the Western Conference finals of the 2017 NBA Finals.
The franchise is expected for an announcement this week about its future.
